Most of us have faced the situation where we had to provide an extra bed for a guest in our home. But many of us were not prepared for the situation. Usually the guest or we had to sleep, if you can call it that, on the couch rather uncomfortably. That is why foam sleepers were invented. It sounds like maybe you need an oil change, which could help get rid of the tapping, its probably from your cam head. If the car sat for 9 months, oil has probably lost most of its viscosity, thats after all therefore recommend a change every 3 months regardless of miles .. You may also with a fuel injector cleaner or what your mechanic recommended a high octane or octane booster should be burning some of the bad or stale sticky gas and get it to run cleaner. I recommend Lucas fuel cleaner. It worked great for me .. The upper hose going into your firewall is your pipe coil heater. If it is leaking from the engine, its no big deal, a simple solution, just replace the pipe. If it leaks inside you'll probably need a new heater core ..
