Similac powder Neosure HELP?
I have a premature baby 28 weeks old who was on disharged Neosure. The team Nicu sent me home with several bottles of formula preformed. I was referred to WIC and they give me the formula powder Neosure. I read on the back of the box that powdered formulas are not intended for infants or premature babies and is not sterile … Is is safe to feed my baby? Any advice on this?
Are you sure you read this correctly? I am a dietitian for WIC and many of our babies are pre-mature. Ready-to-feed formulas are rarely used after discharge and Neosure powder and good Enfacare are given to customers every day at the medical intensive care neonatal and dieticians. It is possible that the warning means Powdered formulas are not designed for hospital use (for feeding tubes), but it's just a guess. I would definitely use formula powder without cause. Make sure the water you use to mix the formula with is sterile.
