Looking to buy a rifle for hunting deer.?
I decided on a fir first preference 7mm Mag, 30-06 in the second. I looked at the Remington 770, but then I saw some very bad reviews on it. I was shooting for a 30-30 years, but I am disappointed with precision. Any tips? The price must remain on the bottom too!
Go with the .30-06. You can still get surplus towers in large quantities for practice and shooting. If you do not reload and you go with the 7mm, you will forever be stuck in the buying cycle boxes of 20, and you'll pay a premium for them. There is also a much wider range of bullet weights available in class 30 in 7mm, especially on the side heavy. The 180 grain bullet is the standard .30-06 hunting towers, and you can go all the way to 220, while 175 is probably the largest you will find 7mm (again, if you do not charge). In field use practice, there is very little difference in performance between the 2 towers and their respective projectiles, to availability should be the deciding factor, and the .30-06 wins hands down. For the rifle, you can not go wrong with any name brands: Remington, Ruger, Savage, CZ, etc. manage all of them and choose one that feels / shoulders better.
